Tom’s passion for Priority Living AZ was to make the Bible practical - not just something to study, but something to live out every day. This website exists to gather decades of Tom’s Bible teaching together in one centralized place, so that his legacy of making God’s Word accessible can continue to reach new hearts.

Tom Shrader

Tom was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to Arizona in 1975, where he began a successful career in commercial real estate. That career took a profound turn on March 6, 1980, when God extended His saving grace and mercy to Tom and forever changed the course of his life.

Under the mentorship of Larry Wright, Tom began leading weekly Bible studies designed to reach men and women in the business community. In 1991, Tom launched Priority Living of Arizona and planted East Valley Bible Church. For more than three decades, Tom faithfully pastored East Valley Bible Church while continuing to teach Priority Living bible studies. His ministry took him across the country, where he spoke to a wide range of audiences - professional athletes, businesspeople, couples, singles, college, and high school students.

Tom’s teaching was biblically grounded, genuine, and deeply practical. He possessed an unparalleled ability to make serious doctrine accessible to ordinary people, and his humor, wit and honesty brought God’s truth into real life. Through his teaching, countless others came to know God’s Word and live biblically changed lives.

On January 13, 2019, Tom peacefully joined his Heavenly Father and first wife, Susan. Until Tom’s passing, he lived in Gilbert, Arizona with his wife, Sandy. Tom’s daughters, Sarah and Hayley, continue to live in Arizona’s East Valley with their families.

Ministry Purpose

Through Priority Living and all of Tom’s lessons, his primary goal was to cause Biblical life change in men and women by teaching the timeless Word of God in a contemporary context.
